The new job has been really hectic and home life hasn’t been much different. Lisa and I have been getting to all those jobs that have been put off and are making good progress. However once you start on the jobs around the house you always seem to find more.

I’ve just looked it up and I can’t believe that I moved this blog from word press hosted to self hosted more than a year ago.

That said with how busy things have been of late not had much time to blog, hence the silence.

Just a short post to let you all know that I’m still here and I shall try to be more active going forward.

It’s not like there hasn’t been anything to blog about, mini-iPhone, Nokia and Microsoft, HP and WebOS, Microsoft Signature (US Only), SBS 20011, Faulty Intel SATA chipset!!!!

I am still keeping my ear to the ground, just not had time to post. I’m not one for just blogging the same on stuff you see, I’ll like to add my experience/my own thoughts.

Anyhow I try and do better going forward….. until next time.

I’m looking in to Android development. I’ve not really bothered with Linux all that much. So I expect that I’ll end up about my experiences with Android in the coming months.

I also want to look at Windows Phone 7 Development and maybe even launch an app. Will have to see

In August, I was mentioning a big change coming for me and if you have looked at my About page then you will already know. We sold our company Total ICT Limited. Which took a few weeks to get things sorted.

This move will hopefully improve things for me personally going forward.

Here in the UK we had a bank holiday yesterday which of course meant we had 3 days off. So I spent some time with the wife over the last few days and decided that I would embark on new project.

Last week I was looking at the plug-ins for Windows Home Server. I came across one which sync your pictures to flickr. Unfortunately it didn’t work that well, it only uploaded the images within the root of the folder you gave to it.

I looked the forums and there seem to be a lot of people requiring this plug in, but the one available was buggy and the developer hadn’t blogged since last year.

So I decided that I would throw something to gather. After around 8 hours approx. I have my application talking to flickr, uploading.

The next big milestone will figuring out how to write an Windows Home Server Addin. So while 60-70% of the application is pretty much done and working, it won’t work with WHS as intended, so time permitting I’m hoping to a full BETA version ready to go in about two weeks.

We booked to go on a Virgin hot air balloon, we have had 3 attempts, and this was on fourth on Saturday and we very nearly did it.

After waiting around all day at home, we eventually left at 4:15 to travel about 45mins away to Knutsford. TomTom, got us their no problem.

When we arrived my Auntie Doe asked if we had out Tickets and yes we had forgotten them.

So 10 minutes later, after I stopped laughing, my Uncle John arrived with all the required paperwork, there were 17 of us in all.

The guy from Virgin arrived with the paperwork and it seemed as we didn’t require our tickets any how.

So we were then taken to the launch site and there was the Balloon siting their waiting to be inflated.

We had to wait a further 30mins or so, until they decided that it was not to windy and we could go up, so the inflection began…..

Yes that’s me holding up the mouth of the Balloon to allow the air from the fans to get into the Balloon, it didn’t take that long to inflate it, around 20mins. It was huge, much bigger than I thought it would of been.

So the next step was them getting some hot air into it. Which that starting doing, just before they started doing this, four people had to get into the basket to help weigh it down, so they all jumped in.

Shortly after this, the rest of us were told to jump in or board! Which we did.

What followed next was 10 minutes of entertainment, as the pilot tried to get enough hot air into the balloon, we were all told to sit, which we all did, but the Balloon was getting push to one site, as you can see the basket above is tilted a great deal, it did worse than this while we were in it! Very funny!

Unfortunately the pilot decided that it wasn’t going to take off and called the flight off…. hope fully next time we will get to go up!

You can see all the images from the evening here.
